We care about architecture and your comfort zone
As an architect, I have seen many homes in New Zealand plagued by internal moisture problems, mold growth, dampness and cold interiors. These issues can be avoided with the right design and construction techniques.
My journey towards becoming a Passive House designer started with a trip to South Korea, as a friend was building his Passive House at that time, where I learned about the concept of a Passive House. I was intrigued by the idea of a house that was so energy-efficient that it could maintain a comfortable indoor temperature with little need of energy for heating or cooling.
When I returned to New Zealand, I was disappointed that I could not find any designer or architect that was able to design a house of such standard at that time. However, my interest in the concept led me to land a job at a leading architectural firm that specializes in Passive House design some years later.
Working in this field gave me a chance to get hands on experience and opportunities to learn the nitty-gritty details of how to make a building perform at a high standard. I learned about the importance of airtightness, thermal bridging with its implications and how to design it out, insulation, and mechanical heat recovery ventilation, amongst other things.
In 2021, I started Archzone, a company with a mission to deliver architecturally designed homes that prioritize comfort and health. We believe that everyone deserves to live in a home that is free from dampness, mold, and other indoor air quality issues.
Having worked on Passive House projects for over 6 years and subsequently obtaining my PH designer certification in 2022, I have the knowledge, skills and experience to design homes that are not only beautiful, but also healthy and sustainable. I believe that the future of housing lies in Passive House design, and I am excited to be a part of this.
